Daniel joined the lab as a volunteer in the spring
of 2007. He stayed on as a full-time research assistant over summer
2007. Daniel helped with numerous projects, including collection
and sorting of alder roots and sequencing of fungi from the Gary
A. Laursen herbarium. Daniel is pursuing a semi-independent project
to characterize the habitat preferences, spatial structure and phylogenetic
affinities of several novel fungal lineages detected in our soil
clone libraries.
