EDUCATION

2005-2008 - Master of Science – University of Manitoba (nearing completion)

I have spent a significant portion of my Master’s degree performing research in the field at the Churchill Northern Studies Centre in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada.  As a consequence, I have well-developed field skills and am familiar with wildlife safety, basic vehicle maintenance of ATVs and snow machines, firearm use and maintenance, basic electronics, working in cold environments, basic shop skills, time management and working independently and as part of a team in a remote location.  I’ve taken four graduate-level courses including Global Biogeochemistry, Climate Change, Agricultural Micrometeorology and Eddy Covariance.  I anticipate that I will have completed this degree by August, 2009.

1999-2003       Bachelor of Arts (Specialized Honours) cum laudeYork University

Subjects Studied:  Hydrometeorology, the Climatology of High Latitudes, Geomorphology, Hydrology, Biogeochemistry, Northern Forest Environments, Soil Science, Statistics, Computer Studies, Russian and an honours thesis under the supervision of Dr. Richard Bello.  This thesis was entitled, ‘The Frost Sorting of Clasts and Isostatic Rebound on Coastal Hudson Bay’ and investigated the relationship between the length of time that land had been exposed from the sea and the degree of frost sorting of clasts.  Over the course of my degree, I sustained excellent grades and earned A+s on the majority of my major subjects.
