and 474-5941 (spring)
New Prerequisite!
Chemistry 103 or 105 are now required prerequisites
(not corequisites) for Biology 106X. If you need to take Biology 106
in spring 2006 but do not have the necessary prerequisite, you must contact
the instructor to discuss your options.
Overview
Biology 106X is part of a two-semester
sequence (105X
and 106X) that provides an introduction to the biological sciences. Biology
106X covers biochemistry, cell biology, energetics, molecular genetics,
and animal structure and function.
Are you a science major?
Biology
106 is intended for science majors. If you are not a science
major and are seeking a course to satisfy either your curiosity about biology
or the natural sciences requirement of the UAF
core curriculum, you should think carefully before taking Biology
106X. The material and pace of the course is intended for students
who intend to pursue a science degree. There are other courses offered
by the Biology
and Wildlife Department, such as Human Biology (BIOL 100X), Biology
and Society (BIOL 103X), and Natural History of Alaska (BIOL 104X), that
are intended for non-majors.
