Core Lab Equipment: Speed Vacs


Description:

There are three Core Lab vacuum centrifuges (speed vacs) for drying samples.

  • Savant DNA Speed Vac DNA110: can hold up to 36x 1.5/2.0ml tubes. (Core Lab)
  • Eppendorf Vacufuge Concentrator 5301: currently configured for 2x96 well plates. The Eppendorf also has 2 rotors for 1.5/2.0ml tubes. One rotor holds 48 tubes and the other holds 70 tubes. (Core Lab)
  • Second Eppendorf Vacufuge Concentrator 5301: located in the WRRB PCR free room with the same set of rotors.

User information:

The speed vacs are are first come first serve. Please sign-up each time you use them. If you make a mess please clean it up. If there are any kind of mechanical problems please alert a Core Lab Tech immediately.

The second Eppendorf in the WRRB PCR free room should only be used for prePCR activities. If you are not sure if you should be using this vacufuge you probably should be using the one in the Core Lab. If you have questions please talk to a Core Lab Tech.
