Core Lab Equipment:
Steris Amsco Renaissance Autoclave (Post-PCR)
Description:
The Post-PCR autoclave (WRRB #2) is intended for autoclaving anything within reason. There is a list of suggested items on the instrument. This would exclude radioactive or chemical waste. After a flush or shutdown the instrament needs about 25 min for the jacket preassure to come up to 20-30psi working preassure before a cycle can be started. In order for this to happen, both power switches must be turned on. Usually the main wall switch is left off because the instrument consumes a lot of power and generates a lot of heat while maintaining jacket pressure.
(WARNING: non-autoclave safe plastic will melt in the autoclave)
When loading make sure that anything which could leak is contained in an autoclave safe tub or tray. Do not overload the chamber, this prevents effective sterilization. Once loaded, close the chamber door securely, and start the cycle by pushing the number button twice. A guide to the programs is taped to the wall to the left of the machine. Please sign up and remove your items promptly. If you have any questions please contact the Core Lab at x7336 or fydna@uaf.edu, or come by WRRB 207.
