Core Lab Equipment:
Steris Amsco Century Autoclave (Pre-PCR)
Description:
The Pre-PCR autoclave (WRRB #1) is intended to be free of material that could contaminate lab supplies. There is a list of prohibited and allowed items posted on the autoclave. If in doubt please ask a Core Lab Tech for assistance. There is a Post-PCR autoclave located at the opposite end of the WRRB 205 lab that can be used for items not suitable for this machine. When using the autoclave first verify that a flush has been performed that day by checking the sign-up sheet. After a flush or shutdown the instrament needs about 25 min for the jacket preassure to come up to 20-30psi working preassure before a cycle can be started. The door is operated by a foot pedal located on the bottom right of the instrument.
(WARNING: non-autoclave safe plastic will melt in the autoclave)
When loading make sure that anything which could leak is contained in an autoclave safe tub or tray. Do not overload the chamber, this prevents effective sterilization. Once loaded, the appropriate cycle can be selected from the touch-screen to start the program, a guide to the programs is taped to the wall to the left of the machine. Please sign up and remove your items promptly. If you have any questions please contact the Core Lab at x7336 or fydna@uaf.edu, or come by WRRB 207.
