Lodging

Accommodations:
On Campus – Rooms will be available in the Moore/Bartlett/Skarland dormitory complex a short walk from the meeting venues.  Rooms are available as singles or doubles with common bath facilities.  Room rates (per room per night) are $53 for a single and $66 for a double.  There is no minimum number of consecutive nights required for this rate, and additional single-night lodging will be available. In addition to dorm rooms, 2-bedroom apartments will be available in the nearby Cutler Apartment Complex. These units sleep up to 4 people in 4 twin beds, and include a kitchen, living room, and full bathroom, and cost $138 per night. Roommates will not be assigned in either the dorm rooms or the apartments, and a limited number of single rooms and apartments are available. If you want to share a double room or apartment, please indicate your roommate(s)'s name(s) on your reservation and the charges can be split when you check in. Wheelchair/ADA accessible units are available, please contact the Residence Life office directly (907-474-6769) to ensure that you are assigned an appropriate room.

We've received word that all of the single rooms on campus are taken, but there might still be some double rooms available. People seeking roommates in double occupancy rooms should visit the meeting blog to post their information. The Residence Life office won't assign you a roommate, so if you've reserved a double occupancy room and don't have a roommate arranged you'll be responsible for the whole $66 fee.

There are many other hotels, hostels, BnBs, campsites, and RV parks in Fairbanks, and we encourage you to explore your off-campus housing options further. Many of the housing options are listed with the Fairbanks Convention and Visitor's Center. Remember that Fairbanks is a popular tourist destination, and you will need to book your off-campus accommodations early.

Dining: Meals purchased during registration through the meal plan will be available at Lola Tilly Commons student dining hall on campus, an all-you-care-to-eat facility with diverse offerings including a full deli, salad bar, classic buffet, and vegetarian entrees. This is the location for Meals with a Mammalogist. You will be able to select your meal options during registration. Meals must be purchased during registration to guarantee availability.

Additional dining options on campus include a food court in the Wood Center and the West Ridge Cafe (on upper campus, near the museum). There are several restaurants within walking distance of UAF, although they are far enough away that there may be insufficient time to eat between morning and afternoon sessions.

Climate and daylight:  There are over 21 hours of possible sunlight in late June. Temperatures in Fairbanks average 60ºF in June, but visitors should expect a range of about 45-75ºF.  Rain is common throughout the summer. Alaska's reputation for voracious mosquitoes is well-deserved, although they tend to be less noticeable on campus.  Up-to-date local weather conditions will be provided via the conference website.
