From the airport

For those renting cars at the airport:

  1. Leaving the airport, bear right (East) onto Airport Way (about 2.5 miles).
  2. Turn left (North) onto University Avenue
  3. Continue past College Road, and turn left (West) onto Taku Drive (about 1.5 miles).
  4. Park in the Taku Parking lot. You can purchase a temporary parking permit from the kiosk in the parking lot. A shuttle bus is available from this parking lot
  5. Head up the hill (West) to the Great Hall for Registration

Driving from the lower 48 via the Alaska Highway

  1. You will be coming in on the Richardson Highway
  2. Turn left (West) onto Airport Way (the first traffic light)
  3. Follow Airport Way to University Avenue and turn right (North; about 3.1 miles)
  4. Follow University Ave. past College Road, and turn left (West) onto Taku Drive (about 1.5 miles)
  5. Park in the Taku Parking lot. You can purchase a temporary parking permit from the kiosk in the parking lot. A shuttle bus is available from this parking lot
  6. Head up the hill (West) to the Great Hall for Registration

For those taking a taxi from the airport

Several taxi companies serve the Fairbanks International Airport. Fares to the University generally cost $15-20. We recommend that you get dropped off directly at the Moore/Bartlett/Skarland complex if you are staying in on-campus housing. If you are not staying on campus, you can ask to be dropped off at the Wood Center bus stop (which is near the Great Hall).

For those taking shuttles to the University

The Local Committee will provide shuttle service between the airport and the University on the 24th, 28th (after 9 PM) and 29th of June. To sign up for the service log back into the online registration and select modify your registration to answer the two questions regarding shuttle service on the first registration page.
